Fishing, a prehistoric practice, an essential food source, and part and parcel of daily life even today for any coastal town.  The fishmonger, a true craftsperson with a vast skill set, from fishing and handling to gutting, boning, and filleting, a true allrounder.  Fishing ports, busy with people tending to the arrival of fresh fish sounding the call of the catch of the day.  Ice at the docks, a market of fresh fish, an ecosystem of its own.  There was a time when one fished just for what was needed (not greedy, not overly commercialised and not excessive. But rather humble, responsible, and respectful of the ocean and its treasures.
