Hourly rate
Pros: In case you don't know how long it will take
Cons: You get penalised (and paid less) for being efficient.
Daily rate
Pros: Guaranteed and locked amount. Good for the client as they know what they will get based on the scope.
Cons: Unpaid overtime (if not negotiated upfront)
Project rate
Pros: Flexible schedule. Worth the effort if you're efficient.
Cons: Can work extra hours (if not negotiated upfront).

UX freelancers experience and skills
Junior level
Expectations:
You know the applicable software well.
You understand design principles.
You have a strong portfolio of all user experience design related projects.
We prefer for you to have previous experience but it's okay if your experience is limited. We look for examples that show consistency.
Mid-level
Expectations:
In addition to junior level the following -
You're very fast at execution and iterations.
You have previous experience.
You always hit deadlines.
You can assist junior levels.
Senior level
Expectations:
In addition to mid-level the following -
You are an excellent problem solver.
You can guide entry and mid-level UX designers.
You have good communication skills with clients and peers.
*In a consulting capacity, this changes quite considerably.
